Nishit Mummareddy, MD, earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, where he was awarded the VUMC Hospital Award of Excellence for medical students and inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He then completed both a neurosurgery residency and CAST-accredited neurointerventional fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
He is an active member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and Society of Neurointerventional Surgery.
Dr. Mummareddy treats the full spectrum of neurovascular disease including aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, fistulas, stroke, atherosclerotic disease, and other complex disorders of the brain and spine vasculature. He utilizes both open surgical and endovascular techniques to provide the most effective, individualized treatment for his patients. His clinical interests also include neurotrauma, brain/spine tumors, and degenerative spine disease.
Dr. Mummareddy has authored numerous research publications on topics including stroke, concussion, brain tumors, and medical education. His current research interests are primarily focused on improving stroke outcomes and advancing neurosurgical education.
In his free time, Dr. Mummareddy enjoys spending time with his family as well as playing tennis and chess.
