Adam T. Leibold, MD,

Dr. Adam Leibold grew up in Carmel, IN, and after attending Indiana University spent two years at Johns Hopkins obtaining a master’s degree in cancer immunology. He then went back to Indiana University for medical school before going to Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia for neurosurgery residency. After his chief year, he completed a fellowship specializing in complex spinal deformity and minimally invasive spine surgery, receiving training from both the Neurosurgery and Orthopedic Spine departments at Thomas Jefferson. There he was able to work with leaders in both neuro- and orthopedic spine surgery, training in everything from complex scoliosis and cervical spine deformity to minimally invasive techniques like spinal endoscopy.

Dr. Leibold is particularly interested in minimally invasive spine surgery. He enjoys using the latest technology to try solve the patient’s problem with the least amount of damage possible. Clinically, he is interested in back and neck pain, cervical myelopathy, degenerative spinal conditions, scoliosis, disc herniations, spinal tumors, and spine trauma. Dr. Leibold’s research interests center on improving monitoring and recovery of patients with cervical myelopathy. During his residency, he was awarded a grant from the Cervical Spine Research Society to investigate this area. In addition to his clinical research, Dr. Leibold is interested in healthcare economics and optimizing value-based patient care. He has authored numerous publications on this topic.

In his free time, Dr. Leibold enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, reading, and snowboarding.
