Bright Sun and Smiles Open the 7th Annual Brain Bolt 5K

Under clear skies, nearly 500 attendees, friends and family took to the Monon and along the streets of downtown Carmel for the 7th Annual Brain Bolt 5K. This year the course was split between a standard 5K and a 1 mile survivor’s course. All top finishers won prizes, including a custom pint glass commemorating this years’ events. The top male and female finisher went to Tim Mylin and Erica Mobasser, respectively.

Ascension St. Vincent served as the presenting sponsor alongside 29 additional sponsors. We were thrilled to have 7 educational booths as well as Bier Brewery, Samanos, Java House, and Abracadabra onsite for Brain Bolt. Boomer from the Indiana Pacers and RaceMaker Productions helped get the crowd fired up, and kept everyone entertained throughout and following the race.

Our featured survivor, Clifford Lane and his wife Shawn, shared their inspirational journey through a traumatic brain injury and road to recovery before the awards ceremony.

Thanks to everyone who registered, participated, volunteered, or simply stopped by the event. We are thrilled to share that we raised over $120,000! These funds are paramount in supporting individuals who’ve suffered a traumatic brain or spinal cord injury- through research, clinic support and treatment. We are already looking forward to next years’ race!
