7th Annual Brain Bolt 5K- Lets Get Ready to Race!

Once again the Neurosurgery Foundation at Goodman Campbell is hosting its annual Brain Bolt 5K at the Carmel Gazebo on Saturday, October 1st, 2022.

This year will feature an in-person and virtual course, and we are adding a dedicated survivor course. This new inclusive course will be modified to accommodate varying physical abilities. Derek Cantrell, Executive Director, shares “This year we are creating an event that will give our patient survivors their own race course. We want everyone who wants to participate to have a way to do so. We have received so much positive feedback about how we include our patients in the day’s events and we want to make that even stronger. We are looking forward to another year of providing community awareness for traumatic brain and spinal injury treatment and research by expanding our registrants and sponsorship colleagues.”

Ascension St Vincent will once again be this year’s Elite sponsor, and food/drink trucks including Samonos, Java House and Bier Brewery are scheduled to be onsite. Feel free to bring the kids to visit the interactive MEGABrain! As in previous years, participants can look forward to exciting and cool t-shirts and medals. RaceMakers and their crew are onboard to make this a successful and memorable race, while raising awareness. Dr. Ben Rodgers added, “We hope to see more participants, volunteers, and in-person sponsors this year and I’m looking forward to spending time with everyone before and after the race.”

All proceeds support treatment and care of traumatic brain and spine injuries. With your participation, we hope to make this a bigger and better event than any other year. According to Jean-Pierre Mobasser, president of Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine, “The Brain Bolt brings public awareness to the devastating neurological injuries that can affect our loved ones. Raising money for research to help improve outcomes for these brain and spine injuries is important for all of us.”
