Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine is a pioneer in offering care to patients provided by Advanced Practice Providers with advanced neuro-specific training and experience. Advanced practice providers, also known as APPs, include nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs). In certain circumstances APPs may be the first medical professional to see you whether you are referred, schedule your own appointment or have to be seen urgently. At Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine NPs and PAs work in direct collaboration with our neurosurgeons, interventional neuroradiologists, and interventional pain management physicians. They work side by side with our physicians reviewing every diagnosis, test and exam, to formulate a care plan that is right for you.
If after the APP performed assessment and physician review, surgery is not a part of your treatment plan, it may not be necessary to see a physician face to face. For patients who may require surgery or a procedure, they will see a physician in addition to the APP. Some of our APPs assist in surgery- not only are they seeing you beforehand, but in many cases during surgery and follow-up appointments. This ensures that the same individual who sees you initially will be able to assess you afterward, providing the highest quality care. And, most patients enjoy seeing a familiar face.
