Registered Nurse (Trauma/Acute Service-Weekends) – Indianapolis, IN

The Acute RN is a key member of the Goodman Campbell Brain & Spine Trauma and critical care team who delivers cutting edge care, reduces complications, and leads to earlier patient discharge.  The Acute RN collaborates with the APP and neurosurgeons on a multidisciplinary team to maintain continuity of care and facilitate the progression of the patient through the complex healthcare system.  The RN responds to acute crises to have a critical and vital impact on patient care under the direction of the APP/physician.  This is a days, weekend option position.

Duties:

  • First responder in collaboration with APP in Emergency Department to provide patient care intervention under the direction of the APP/physician.
  • Available for urgent calls regarding trauma patients in the Emergency Department, ICU, and other inpatient departments  under the direction of the APP/physician.
  • Keep accurate progress notes and dictate discharge summaries
  • Communicates appropriately with APP/physicians regarding any patient care issues
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with all involved in patient care
  • Provide patient and patient family education
  • Functions in collaboration with APP in an organized and time conscious manner
  • Professional presentation
  • Displays flexibility as it relates to the staffing needs of the acute service
  • Responsible for professional growth and development and in services, seminar, and annual certification record keeping
  • Complies with professional, regulatory, governmental and departmental standards

Education and Experience Required

  • Current CPR certification
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Nursing skills/experience in trauma, Emergency, or Critical Care setting (neurosurgery is a plus)
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school of nursing
  • Must complete OSHA safety training for blood-borne pathogens
