Despite the chilly morning weather, nearly 560 attendees, friends and family took to the Monon and along the streets of downtown Carmel for the 8th Annual Brain Bolt 5K.
Once again this year, the course was split between a standard 5K and a 1 mile survivor’s course. All top finishers won prizes, including a custom coffee mug commemorating this years’ events. The top male and female finisher went to Bobby Thompson and Emily Cochard, respectively
Ascension St. Vincent served as the presenting sponsor alongside 35 additional sponsors. We were thrilled to have 5 educational booths as well as Bier Brewery, Rose and Lois, and Abracadabra onsite for Brain Bolt. Freddy Fever from the Indiana Fever and Lee from RaceMakers helped get the crowd fired up and kept everyone entertained throughout and following the race.
Our featured survivor, Dylan St. Clair and his wife Marianne, shared their inspirational journey through a traumatic brain injury and road to recovery before the awards ceremony.
Thanks to everyone who registered, participated, volunteered, or simply stopped by the event. We are thrilled to share that we raised nearly $127,000! These funds are paramount in supporting individuals who’ve suffered a traumatic brain or spinal cord injury- through research, clinic support and treatment. We are already looking forward to next years’ race!
