With the health and well-being of patients in mind, we’re pleased to announce that Ascension St. Vincent is planning an expansion of its Indianapolis campus that includes the development of a new state-of-the art brain and spine hospital to open in late 2023. Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine will partner with Ascension on the new facility, which will make Ascension St. Vincent the region’s destination for complex neurosurgical care.
The new, four-story brain and spine hospital will be located on the north side of the Ascension St. Vincent campus on West 86th Street in Indianapolis. It will include eight operating rooms, 36 intensive-care-unit beds, and a dedicated step-down unit to care for patients who have recovered sufficiently to leave intensive care, but still need more care than a general hospital ward would provide.
“Today’s announcement will create a destination for adult and pediatric neurosurgery unrivaled in Indiana and the Midwest,” said Dr. Jean-Pierre Mobasser, president of Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine. “The neuro-related programs being offered now will only improve with these new clinical settings providing for integrated approaches to care.”
The new hospital will not only allow Goodman Campbell to enhance our advanced brain and spine care capabilities but will also serve as a center for our research activities.
With the addition of this new brain and spine hospital, as well as a new women’s hospital on the same campus, Ascension St. Vincent will become a regional quaternary care center, providing the most specialized care available within Indiana and the Midwest.
“We are excited to be a part of a project to elevate Goodman Campbell clinical programs and create a holistic and patient-centered approach to providing neurosurgical care in a brand-new facility,” said Dr. Mobasser.
