John J. DePowell, MD

Dr. John J. DePowell graduated magna cum laude from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, with a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry. He received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and completed his neurosurgical training with the University of Cincinnati Department of Neurosurgery and the Mayfield Clinic. Following his neurosurgical residency, he completed a fellowship in complex spine surgery at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix Arizona. He then joined Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine as a neurosurgeon subspecializing in the treatment of complex spinal disorders. 

Dr. DePowell treats patients with all spinal disorders utilizing the latest surgical techniques and instrumentation, with special interests in spinal deformity and degenerative disease. His goal in the treatment of spinal disease is to minimize pain, restore function, and improve quality of life.

Dr. DePowell is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the AANS/CNS Joint Section of Disorders of the Spine and Peripheral Nerves, the Indiana State Medical Association, and the Indianapolis Medical Society.

Dr. DePowell resides in Indianapolis. He greatly enjoys any activity and time spent with his family. He is an avid runner.
