Dr. Josue Diaz Ordaz, Goodman Scholar, obtained his medical degree and completed his neurosurgery residency at Indiana University School of Medicine. He also completed an enfolded CAST approved fellowship in neuro-oncology and 6 months of focused neurocritical care training. He joins the Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine team as a cranial and spine neurosurgeon at our Terre Haute office location. His clinical interests include degenerative and traumatic spinal pathologies, traumatic brain injury, brain and spine tumors, trigeminal neuralgia, and peripheral nerve disorders. Dr. Ordaz shares, “Growing up, I knew I wanted to help people in some form. While in undergrad, I enjoyed learning about human anatomy and physiology the most which got me interested in the medical field. I initially wanted to go into primary care, but I found the most joy during hands-on labs and learning neuro anatomy.” After observing an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion, he knew this was the field he wanted to go into.
“I really enjoy treating the entire neuro axis from cranial to spine to peripheral nerve. My goal is to be able to treat most if not all of the possible neurosurgical conditions a patient may suffer. I am excited to continue growing the neurosurgical program in Terre Haute.” When asked why he chose to practice at Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine he stated, “I believe my values and goals for a neurosurgery practice align with GCBS.”
He hopes to integrate multidisciplinary care, foster research collaboration, and drive innovation in his practice. This will ultimately improve patient outcomes, enhance surgical safety and efficacy, and reduce healthcare burdens in Terre Haute and surrounding communities.
Dr. Ordaz enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids. “We love going to the park, eating different international foods and playing Super Mario with my son.” Dr. Ordaz also appreciates trying different specialty coffees from all over the world and learning how they are processed. He is a huge Pacers fan and looks forward to watching them win their first NBA title!
