Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine is proud to announce our Sixth Annual Brain Bolt 5K Run/Walk/Wheel will be both in person and virtual this year! This year’s race will once again benefit the treatment and care of traumatic brain and spine injuries. We anticipate a large number of race participants from all over the country—many of whom are survivors of brain and spine injuries, or their families.
“We are excited to continue the tradition of the Brain Bolt 5K and look forward to a fun, family event to support Hoosiers across our state who suffer unimaginable injuries of the head and spine,” said Derek Cantrell, Goodman Campbell’s Executive Director. “Each year we enjoy seeing our survivors participating in the race activities. It is our goal to increase awareness that recovery from traumatic brain and spine injuries is possible.”
For those wishing to gather safely in person, Brain Bolt 5K will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the Carmel Gazebo at Civic Square in Carmel. Brain Bolt 5K is a family-friendly walk/race that celebrates survivors of traumatic brain and spine injury with our patients, community and sponsors. The event features musical entertainment, local food trucks and activities for kids. Regional trauma specialists will educate attendees on preventing head and spine injuries, and GCBS’ MEGA Brain—an inflatable, interactive, walk-through exhibit—will also be on display.
Those who choose to race virtually will have the freedom to race wherever they choose Saturday, September 25 through Saturday, October 2 using the RaceJoy app. Feel free to hit the trails in the afternoon or a treadmill from the comfort of your own home. Your call!

All proceeds of the Brain Bolt 5K will support the efforts of the Neurosurgery Foundation at Goodman Campbell to help fund pilot research projects in traumatic brain injury, a follow-up clinic for patients for after-injury care, and will support GCBS’ neurotrauma databases.
