Perhaps the most important measure of our success as a neurosurgical practice is the outcome for patients. Less pain, lower chance of readmission, higher quality of lifeāthese are the results that matter, to us and to our patients.
So how are we doing? According to the Quality and Outcomes Database (QOD), established by the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Goodman Campbell surgeons outperform their peers in every measure. Thatās based on data from our entire spine cohort, and it includes our most complex cases. By any measure, our surgeons are among the best of the best.
Better Recoveries, Less Pain
The QOD found that Goodman Campbell patients had significantly lower readmission rates for both lumbar and cervical procedures than the national average. That means our patients are less likely to return for further surgery. Our patients are also more likely to return to work after surgery. This data tells us that our patients experience a better recovery overall than the national average.

Thatās certainly good news, but we decided to dig deeper to make sure patients really were experiencing the best care. To do so, we administer surveys before surgery, and twice after, to encourage patients to report their levels of pain and disability.
These surveys found a dramatic drop in pain that continues three months after surgery. When surveyed again at the one-year mark, patients still report a significant drop in pain, and a reduction in disability scores. These results confirm what the QOD suggests: At Goodman Campbell, our patients have better recoveries.
