Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine is pleased to welcome our newest neurosurgeon, Dr. Jay K. Nathan, to the Goodman Campbell family! Dr. Nathan specializes in degenerative spinal disease, cervical and lumbar disorders, and spinal tumors.
Dr. Nathan had an interest in molecular and cellular biology early on. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of California and medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine. Throughout medical school he explored many areas, but always came back to neurosurgery, which became his area of concentration. He strives to be innovative in the process of his care, optimizing surgical results and adding supportive follow-up care for all patients.
He completed his residency at the University of Michigan and a fellowship in neurological spine surgery at Stanford. Dr. Nathan states, “Medicine provides an opportunity to blend my interests in biology and connecting with people. It allows me to use my training to help people in a way that’s very rewarding to me.ā His clinical and research interests include: spine surgery, health policy, quality improvement and outcomes, and patient safety. He recognizes the need for expert spine care in society and appreciates its dramatic effect on quality of life and function for every patient.
Other interests of Dr. Nathanās include constantly being on the move! As a licensed pilot, he enjoys developing skills involved with flying, including: camaraderie, communicating well with others and mitigating risk. He feels each can be incorporated into his medical practice. Dr. Nathan is also a fan of Formula One and motorsports, which makes him a perfect fit for the Indianapolis area! While he enjoys traveling with his family and learning the history surrounding various locations, he looks forward to raising his family in Indiana.
When asked āWhy Goodman Campbell?ā Dr. Nathan stated, āI was drawn to their national academic and research mission and patient-focused reputation of patient care. I am looking forward to working in an independent practice of this size with an extensive amount of experience and expertise.ā
Dr. Nathan will see patients at our Avon and Greenwood offices beginning September 1st. We look forward to the skill and comprehensive care that Dr. Nathan will bring to Goodman Campbell!
